Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a medical condition characterized by an abnormal lateral curvature of the spine. Instead of the spine being straight when viewed from the back, it curves sideways, often forming an “S” or “C” shape. Scoliosis can develop in various ways and may have different causes and implications.
Symptoms:
- Visible Curvature: Uneven shoulders, one shoulder blade more prominent than the other, or an uneven waist.
- Back Pain: May be present, especially in adults or in severe cases.
- Postural Changes: Uneven alignment of the body or asymmetric hips.
- Reduced Lung Capacity: In severe cases, especially if the curve affects chest and lung function.
